Was so happy to see KC beat Boston. As long as upton doesnt go to a rival ill be ok, but I would seriously like to see him stay with TB. Although the money thing is big in tampa. If KC plays like they have in the last 5 games they would compete every year..lol

Totally agree with the Fraud statement...total true and hilarious. Melky is a vet but that's it...someone has to put up stats - amazing how good Melky is when there is zero pressure to win. Bruce Chen has a long way to go to be Moyer imo. Like 20 years...LOL!

Melky has managed to completely turn his career around this year, and the Royals should consider keeping him through 2012 and seeing if he's for real. He's been around long enough to be considered a "veteran".

The same goes for Bruce Chen, he's turning into Jaime Moyer-lite and could make an impact for the next season or two.

Oh, and previous "youth movements" have been frauds perpetuated by the likes of Allard Baird and Herk Robinson. What we're seeing from the Royals right now is the first true youth movement since the '83-'84 season.

Daniel...thanks for chiming in and reading the blog...

I agree...the Royals farm system is insanely deep...but they are going to be EXTREMELY young for the next 2-3 years and you usually need a mix (usually a majority) of veterans and some kids thrown in...the Royals will have it backwards for a while...and they're vets are not big time players at this point either. The Royals will be good in 2014 or so if they can get just 25% of these big time prospects to be stars...but this youth movement by KC has been going on for how long now????

The Royals may not compete in 2012, but they're close. They have a fantastic system and have already graduated high impact talent to the majors. Their success will depend on how their rotation develops - they've got great arms in Danny Duffy, Mike Montgomery, Jake Odorizzi and decent 2nd tier arms in guys like Chris Dwyer and Everett Teaford.

I would have to agree with what your saying, there are what 65-66 games left and we are only 7 1/2 games behind the Red Sox and 5 1/2 behind the Yankees, why give up on them? they are in the thick of this race, we really need to give credit to coach Maddon for maintaining to keep a positive attitude in the club house, also i am tired of hearing these so called baseball guru's saying that the Rays are probably going to be sellers and that they won't catch the Red Sox or the Yankees, we need to upgrade on offense so why not go get a player like Carlos Beltran, a player the mets said they will cover his salary and see if the Rays can't catch New york and Boston, we need to be buyers and try to upgrade the offense, our pitching is ranked in the top 5 in almost every category, we need bullpen help and 2 players that have bats that will help Longoria get out of his slump, Beltran and Pence would be good.

Yea these so called "fans" of the Rays are BS. Ive stuck with the rays and continue to make it to as many games as I can....I live in Gainesville and Im in college, not like I have money. Its great that we can actually compete and win games against two of the most popular and well funded teams in MLB. I am proud of my RAYS and F off all you fake fairweather fans in FLORIDA....I hope the rays dont move out of Florida but with the idiots here in this state Im sure they are thinking about it. Oh and by the way I LOVE the TROP...there is nothing wrong with that stadium. I would love to hear one problem with it. No rain outs, No heat = no problems and GREAT BASEBALL!!!
